The Centre is located at 671 Main Street. It is the centre of activity of The Classic Garden, a non profit organization in Birtle, MB. We were able to acquire this building in fall of 2014 and we are working on getting it in shape. The Centre is where we train and employ local youth to manufacture garden obelisks and sterling silver rings sold wholesale and retail. It is where our board meets and where we offer classes on a wide variety of topics. We also sell some supplies such as clay, a pottery starter kit, etc. The Centre will soon be home to more of our shop tools and equipment when we have more of our space renovated ready for use.
Classes to date range from pottery, to art to fabric arts, woodwork and metalwork, landscape design and garden planter design/maintenance. We will also be having off site gardening classes which will take place in the gardens. Participants range in age from 5 to 90 years, male and female and local and regional. There is an appetite for learning new skills and The Classic Garden is doing its best to fulfill this need. If there is a skill you would like to learn or class you would like, please contact us and we will do our best to be able to offer it.
CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
The Classic Garden offers a variety of classes and workshops. Most are held at The Centre, workshop of The Classic Garden, located at 671 Main Street in Birtle, MB. For details on current or upcoming workshops, click here.
Once our renovation is complete, we plan to expand the variety of workshops offered.
RENOVATING THE CENTRE
To be able to expand our variety of workshops, we need to have room for our tools and be able to economically heat all of our building. To accomplish this we made some immediate repairs to The Centre, our workshop located at 671 Main St. in Birtle. We are now taking on renovations to further increase the heat efficiency of the building as well as improving the exterior appearance.
As we proceed with our renovation, we recognize and say THANK YOU to our major sponsors: Manitoba Liquor & Lottieries and Tundra Oil and Gas and to the Birtle Lions Club, the Birtle Value Shoppe, the Birtle District Community Foundation, Twin Valley Coop Ltd., Prairie View Municipality and to the many businesses, organizations and community citizens who have contributed financially, supported our fundraisers and those who have instructed or attended classes and workshops. Your support allows the renovations and development of The Centre to continue.
TO CONTRIBUTE to our renovation project, give us a call. Donations of over $200 are eligible for a tax receipt but be assured that we appreciate all donations of any size.
